Fun-filled Activities for Kids in TRNC

Today, June 1st, is celebrated as World Children’s Day in many countries including North Cyprus. The day was officially recognized after the adoption of the Geneva Declaration on the Protection of Children at the World Conference for the Welfare of Children held in Geneva in 1925 with the participation of 54 countries.

Several events were organized in North Cyprus to commemorate the day. Yenicami Preschool Education Center held an event under the auspices of the Presidency and under the leadership of President Ersin Tatar’s wife, Sibel Tatar. Speaking at the event, Sibel Tatar emphasized the need to remember children not only once a year but always. She also talked about the work done for children under the auspices of the Presidency and the various projects and studies that still need to be done for children.

The Culture Department of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment also organized an event for World Children’s Day. Iskele Municipality organized an event at the Iskele Municipality Public Beach with the theme of “make all children smile.” Nicosia Turkish Municipality organized activities for children as well, including a joint concert by the Nicosia Municipality Orchestra Children’s and Polyphonic Youth Choir and Girne Chamber Choir. The event at Rauf Denktaş University Cultural Center-Ancient Mısırlızade Cinema is scheduled to start at 20:00. Gonyeli-Alayköy Children’s Festival is also being held this evening, which includes dance performances and entertainment for children.

Mesarya Municipality’s 1st Mesarya Children’s Festival was held in Akdoğan. The festival included various activities and games for children, and Mayor Ahmet Latif flew balloons after the children celebrated the 1 June World Children’s Day.
