German Army Recruitment Posters Feature Turkish Expressions
The German army is looking for personnel by using Turkish expressions on its posters
In a surprising move, the German Armed Forces have hung posters with Turkish expressions in different parts of the city in an effort to increase the number of military personnel. This comes as Germany recently announced its plans to increase defense expenditures and personnel numbers.
The posters, which are targeted at military candidates, include calls in Turkish as well as in German. The goal is to increase the number of military personnel in the German Armed Forces (Bundeswehr) from the current 183 thousand to 203 thousand by 2031. One of the posters asks candidates to apply with the phrase “Be a Part of Our Navy” in Turkish.
This move is seen as an effort to reach out to the Turkish community in Germany, as well as to attract candidates from Turkish backgrounds to join the military. It is a reflection of the increasing diversity within the German Armed Forces and a recognition of the contributions of Turkish-Germans to the country.
Overall, the use of Turkish expressions on the army’s posters has raised eyebrows and sparked discussions about diversity and inclusion in the German military. It will be interesting to see the impact of this initiative on the recruitment efforts of the German Armed Forces in the coming months.
