Hamas refuses to capitulate to US demands on hostages – Latest Global News
Hamas Refuses US Pressure for Hostage Release
In response to calls from the United States and 17 other countries for the immediate release of hostages held by Hamas, the Palestinian organization has stated that it will not bow to US pressure. Hamas official Abu Zuhri made it clear that they are determined to demand that Israel end the Gaza war as part of any agreement to release the hostages.
The joint statement calling for the hostages’ release was issued shortly before Hamas made its stance known. It was also mentioned that an extended ceasefire agreement in Gaza was being considered in exchange for the hostages’ freedom.
Meanwhile, the Israeli War Council and the expanded Israeli Political and Security Ministers Council are set to discuss new provisions for a potential prisoner exchange agreement with Hamas today. The ongoing negotiations highlight the complexities of the situation in Gaza and the challenges faced by all parties involved.
