Iranian Retaliatory Strike on Israel: Hundreds of Missiles Launched – Breaking News
Iran Launches Retaliatory Attack on Israel with Hypersonic Missiles
As Israel’s ground operation against Lebanon continued, Iran retaliated by launching a massive missile attack. The Israeli army reported that nearly 200 missiles were fired from Iran, causing civilians to seek shelter in bomb shelters. Iranian sources revealed that almost 500 missiles were launched, including hypersonic Fattah 1 missiles, which exceed the speed of sound.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense confirmed the attack and stated that 180 missiles were fired in total. Air raid sirens blared in Jerusalem and Tel Aviv as explosions rocked the cities. Some missiles were intercepted in Jordanian airspace, while flights were temporarily halted at Ben Gurion Airport.
The Israeli army condemned the attack as a serious escalation and vowed to respond appropriately. Israeli officials claimed that over 200 missiles were launched in a two-stage attack, resulting in the closure of a new military zone in northern Israel. Two Hezbollah-affiliated commanders were reportedly killed in Syria as part of the Israeli response.
In a statement, the Iranian Revolutionary Guards announced that they fired dozens of missiles at Israel in retaliation for previous attacks. Iran’s religious leader, Ali Khamenei, was reportedly behind the decision to launch the attack. Iranian officials warned of a “destructive response” if Israel retaliated militarily.
US President Joe Biden convened an emergency meeting to discuss the situation. The White House affirmed its readiness to protect Israel and American personnel in the region. The Pentagon confirmed that US Navy destroyers intercepted Iranian missiles directed towards Israel.
Hamas expressed appreciation for Iran’s missile attacks, which sought to avenge slain leaders and military figures. Meanwhile, Iranian President Massoud Pezeshkian warned against further conflict with Iran, emphasizing their readiness to resist any threats.
Despite the intense exchange of missile strikes, both sides are keen on averting a full-scale war and are hopeful for a peaceful resolution to the escalating tensions in the region.
