Israel Army Announces Possible Accidental Death of Israeli Prisoner Yossi Sharabi
According to a report by The Times of Israel, the Israeli army’s investigation into the death of 53-year-old Yossi Sharabi suggests that he may have been killed “accidentally” during the army’s attacks on Gaza.
The Israeli army has shared the results of the investigation with Sharabi’s family, stating that the building adjacent to where he was held in Gaza was targeted by the Israeli army. It is believed that the building where Sharabi was staying collapsed as a result of the attack.
The Israeli army claimed to have had intelligence that an attack was planned against soldiers from the building it targeted. They also announced that lessons had been learned from the incident and that they would act within a new framework in future attacks against Gaza.
On January 15, Hamas’s armed wing, Izz ad-Din al-Qassam Brigades, announced that Israeli captives Yossi Sharabi and Itay Svirsky died in Israel’s air and land attacks on the Gaza Strip. The deaths of Sharabi and Svirsky are just one part of the ongoing conflict between Israel and Gaza, with both sides facing ongoing violence and casualties.
