Israel Issues Direct Attack Order; Footage of Ismail Haniyeh’s Funeral Revealed at the Last Minute
The first ceremony for Hamas leader Ismail Haniyeh, who was hit by a missile in the Iranian capital Tehran, is being held today. Iranian religious leader Ayatollah Khamenei is among those who attended the funeral ceremony at Tehran University.
According to AFP, a large crowd carrying Palestinian and Iranian flags gathered at Tehran University for the funeral. The Israeli press highlighted the slogans chanted at the funeral, “Death to Israel,” and banners calling for Israel’s collapse. The coffin of Ismail Haniyeh, wrapped in the Palestinian flag, was a symbol of unity and solidarity among Palestinians and Iranians.
Religious leader Khamenei, leading the funeral prayer, gave the order to directly attack Israel in a meeting with his staff on Wednesday. Iranian Parliament Speaker Mohammad Baqer Qalibaf claimed that the assassination was carried out with the coordination of the US. Qalibaf stated, “We know that this attack was carried out with the support and coordination of the US.”
The tensions between Iran and Israel escalated further on the evening of April 13 when Iran fired missiles and kamikaze drones from its territory towards Israel, marking the first direct attack from Iran. This retaliation was in response to Israel’s earlier strike on a building in the Iranian embassy in Damascus.
The ongoing conflict between Iran and Israel, which has now reached a dangerous level, poses a threat of widespread war in the region. Iran is considering various retaliatory options, including possible attacks through its proxies in countries like Yemen, Lebanon, Iraq, and Syria.
The assassination of Haniyeh has raised concerns about the security situation in Iran, especially since the attack was carried out from outside the country’s borders. It remains uncertain whether Iran will launch another direct attack on Israel or choose to retaliate through its allies in the region.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s announcement of the killing of Hezbollah’s number three Fuad Shukur in Beirut has added to the tensions in the region. Netanyahu emphasized that Israel is prepared for any scenario and warned of difficult days ahead.
As tensions continue to rise, there are fears that the conflict in the Gaza Strip could escalate into a full-scale war involving multiple countries in the Middle East. The region is on high alert as Iran’s potential retaliation could further destabilize the already fragile situation.
