Israeli Forces Raid Refugee Camps in West Bank
Israeli Forces Raid Al-Faria Refugee Camp in the West Bank
Israeli forces accompanied by military bulldozers recently raided the al-Faria Refugee Camp near the West Bank city of Tubas. Witnesses reported an armed conflict between Israeli forces and Palestinians who resisted the raid, with clashes occurring at various points within the camp. The Israeli army also sent reinforcements to the area.
Eyewitnesses from the Nur Shams Refugee Camp in the city of Tulkerim stated that at least 2 Palestinians were injured as a result of Israeli forces opening fire. They also reported clashes between the Israeli special forces and Palestinians, along with the deployment of snipers on the roofs of many buildings.
According to witnesses, Israeli forces surrounded a house and demanded that the Palestinians inside surrender. The Palestinian Red Crescent noted that medical teams took one injured person to the hospital, but Israeli soldiers prevented them from reaching a girl injured in the camp.
After raiding the Nur Shams Refugee Camp and neighborhoods in Tulkerim city, Israeli forces withdrew from the area. During the raid, they entered many houses by force, conducted searches, and detained multiple Palestinians.
This recent raid is part of an increase in detentions, raids, and attacks against Palestinians in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem since October 7, 2023 when Israeli forces launched an attack on the Gaza Strip. Since then, 383 Palestinians have lost their lives in attacks by Israeli forces and Jewish settlers in the occupied West Bank and East Jerusalem. The ongoing violence highlights the tense and volatile situation in the region.
