Khisorak Reservoir in Kashkadarya Releases Water with No Casualties Reported

On June 10, a water leak was observed from the Khisorak reservoir in the Shakhrisabz district of the Kashkadarya region, as reported by the press service of the Ministry of Emergency Situations of Uzbekistan.

The incident occurred during engineering and technical measures to open an additional tunnel on the left side of the dam. Fortunately, there were no casualties and no damage to the reservoir. An operational headquarters has been formed under the leadership of the chairman of the board of Uzbekhydroenergo JSC to address the situation.

Authorities have assured the public that there is no need for unnecessary concern as the situation is fully under control. Videos circulating on social networks show the release of water from the reservoir and the increased water level in the river.

Khokim of the Shakhrisab region, Samad Khasanov, explained in a video message that the release of water from the reservoir is a routine activity carried out every year before the summer season to provide water for agricultural purposes in the area. Repair works at the Khisorak reservoir are also conducted annually under the supervision of specialists to ensure its safety.

Residents are urged to not believe false information and to remain in their places of residence. The head of the Emergency Situations Department confirmed that there was no emergency situation at the reservoir.Authorities continue to monitor the situation closely to prevent any further incidents.
