Kyrgyzstan’s Hotels and Resorts to Receive Star Ratings

Hotels and Resorts in Kyrgyzstan to be Assigned Stars

In a recent announcement, it has been revealed that hotels and resorts in Kyrgyzstan will soon be assigned stars as part of a new classification system. The decree on the state system of classification of accommodation facilities was signed by the Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers, Adylbek Kasymaliev.

According to the plan, there will be three categories, with hotels and resorts being assigned stars ranging from one to five. Guest houses will be classified as edelweisses, with a maximum of four, while yurt camps will be able to receive tunduks, with the highest category being four tunduks. This new system of quality standards aims to increase guests’ trust in accommodation, allowing them to immediately understand what level of service they can expect.

The introduction of this rating system for resorts, glamping sites, guest houses, and hotels is expected to serve as an incentive for improving the quality of service for tourists. The classification will be transparent and open for both guests and businesses, with plans to initially make it voluntary and establish a system of motivation. The assessment process will be conducted on a digital platform.

This classification system is based on international experience and best practices, adapted to suit the conditions of the Kyrgyz Republic. It was developed with the support of the Asian Development Bank. The first hotels and resorts to receive stars will be determined this year.

This new initiative is set to bring a higher level of clarity and standardization to the accommodation industry in Kyrgyzstan, ultimately benefiting both guests and businesses alike.
