Man Sentenced to Prison for Killing 76 Cats in South Korea
A man in his 20s was recently tried in the Changwon District Court in South Korea for violating the Animal Welfare Law by killing 76 cats. This shocking case of animal cruelty has been described as one of the most horrific in the country in recent years.
The accused claimed that he developed a deep hatred towards cats after some of them scratched his car. He admitted to torturing and killing cats that he had collected from the streets and adopted for free from online sites between December 2022 and September 2023.
The court found the man guilty of committing these crimes in a planned and cruel manner and sentenced him to 14 months in prison. However, the guilty party has appealed the court’s decision.
Borami Seo, Director of the International Humane Society of South Korea, commented on the case, stating that the penalty reflects society’s growing concern for animal welfare and its condemnation of such senseless acts of cruelty.
This case serves as a stark reminder of the importance of protecting animals and holding those who engage in acts of cruelty accountable for their actions. Follow NTV on social media for more updates on this and other important news stories.
