“Millions Found in Sofa Bed at CHP Congress” – Breaking News Today

The Ankara Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office is currently investigating allegations of “vote buying” during the 38th Ordinary Congress of the Republican People’s Party (CHP) that took place on November 4-5, 2023. The investigation is ongoing and suspects’ statements are being taken.

During the investigation, 8 out of the 86 suspects were called in for their defense statements. Among the suspects who testified were CHP Headquarters lawyer Çağlar Çağlayan and Party Assembly member Ali Haydar Fırat, both of whom denied the allegations.

Former CHP Youth Branch Vice President Muzaffer Emir Cömert was also implicated in the investigation. It was claimed that in order to sway delegates from Erzurum before the congress, Ankara Deputy Umut Akdogan and his team, along with Cömert, were involved in managing the election office of Mustafa Erdoğdu, according to CHP Chairman Ozgur Ozel.

Cömert alleged that Erdoğdu sent 2 million dollars to the delegates from Istanbul under the sofa in his office, claiming that he was not aware of him. Moreover, witness Yusuf Gögerkaya stated that CHP Erzurum Provincial Chairman Serhat Can Eş gave him a thousand dollars, which he kept as evidence and never used. Cömert confirmed this statement.

The investigation is ongoing, and more details are expected to emerge as the case progresses. Stay tuned for updates on this developing story.
