MyART Art Center brings theater to the island with two new plays
MyART Art Center recently staged two theater plays as part of their ongoing project to bring theater to the island. The plays, titled “There is Talim on Ships” and “Naughty Fox,” were well-received by the audience.
Mustafa Çığ, the Director of MyART Art Center, shared a written statement about the success of the project. He mentioned that the plays were performed at various locations, including Dipkarpaz Primary School, Erenköy Erdoğan Hoşsöz Culture Palace, Derince Cultural Center, Mehmetçik District Governorate, Geçitkale Cultural Center, Alsancak Gökay Boğaçhan Cultural Center, Beyarmudu Municipality Social Center, and Famagusta Mektebim College. The performances were offered free of charge to the community.
However, Çığ also highlighted a concerning issue in the country – the shortage of theaters. He expressed his commitment to continue staging plays wherever possible but criticized certain local governments for demanding exorbitant fees for the use of their halls. This practice hinders the accessibility of theater to the public and limits opportunities for artistic expression.
Despite these challenges, MyART Art Center remains dedicated to its mission of promoting theater and making it accessible to all. The success of the recent plays is an encouraging sign, and the center will continue to bring quality performances to the island in the future.
