Oberon Market Reclaimed by State after Valued at 3.8 Billion Soms

Bishkek – On October 29, 2024, the State Committee for National Security of Kyrgyzstan (SCNS) reported that a criminal case has been opened regarding the illegal acquisition of land plots by Oberon LLC at Dordoi and Orto-Sai markets.
It was revealed that in 1998, the owners of the markets received the plots for temporary use through lease agreements. However, Oberon LLC, in collaboration with officials, unlawfully obtained state acts granting them the right of private ownership of the markets in question.
As part of the ongoing criminal case, the department of the capital’s City Hall has filed an administrative claim to invalidate the illegally issued acts. Following the decision of the Administrative and City Courts of Bishkek, the ownership of the markets has been transferred to the municipal ownership of the City Hall. Land plots worth 3,889,563 billion soms with a total area of 8.1 hectares have been returned to the state, and the income from these markets will now contribute to the city budget.
The SCNS is currently investigating to determine the involvement of other officials in this crime, and a legal assessment will be provided for their actions. The authorities are taking measures to ensure accountability and integrity in the management of land resources in the country.
