Over 31,000 Drivers Penalized for DUI and Refusing Sobriety Tests

The Supreme Court has reported that a total of 31,351 individuals have received administrative penalties in the form of fines, driving privilege suspensions, and administrative arrests. This comes after 32,999 individuals had 32,723 cases of administrative violations reviewed in 2024, under Articles 131 and 136 of the Administrative Responsibility Code.

Article 131 specifically deals with driving a vehicle while intoxicated, while Article 136 addresses the refusal of drivers and other road users to undergo a sobriety test. It is clear that the authorities are taking strict measures to curb such irresponsible behavior on the road.

Previous reports also indicated that in the year prior, 40,119 individuals were involved in 39,270 cases of traffic violations resulting in minor bodily harm or significant material damage. Out of these cases, administrative penalties such as fines and license suspensions were imposed on 26,063 individuals.

It is evident that the authorities are actively enforcing traffic laws and holding individuals accountable for their actions on the road. It is crucial for all road users to adhere to these laws to ensure the safety of themselves and others on the road.
