“Over 65 Thousand Applicants for Campaign: Half Succeed”
The Turkish Minister Institution has announced that the “Half of Us” campaign has received over 65,500 applications, with around 376,500 independent departments being involved. The campaign aims to transform and rebuild risky buildings in 39 districts of Istanbul, with the state offering aid to cover half the costs involved in the project. The government will also offer 5250 Lira aid and 10,500 Lira relocation aid, with all applications being reviewed within 6 months. If the number of applications exceeds 200,000, a draw will take place to determine which buildings will be chosen for the transformation. The government will also build 125,000 residences in 11 provinces within the earthquake zone. The project has caused controversy among opponents, who are claiming that the campaign aims to undermine the process and prevent the government from making improvements. Despite this, the Minister Institution has announced that the program will continue, with work ongoing to make significant improvements and help rebuild the affected areas.
