Palestine Stresses US Support for Netanyahu
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu’s recent statement regarding a possible land attack on Rafah has sparked outrage and concern among Palestinian officials and the international community. According to reports from the official Palestinian agency WAFA, spokesperson Abu Rudeyne condemned Netanyahu’s determination to continue the attacks on the Palestinian people, regardless of international legitimacy and laws.
Abu Rudeyne pointed out the unwavering support of the United States towards Israel, stating that without this support, Netanyahu would not have the audacity to commit further genocide against the Palestinians. He called on the American administration to intervene immediately and compel Israeli authorities to cease their crimes.
The city of Rafah, located in Gaza near the Egyptian border, has been heavily impacted by the ongoing Israeli attacks. With a population of approximately 280 thousand before the attacks began, Rafah has now become a haven for displaced Palestinians, with nearly 1.5 million seeking refuge in the city.
The threat of a potential land attack on Rafah by the Israeli army has raised concerns about the safety and wellbeing of the civilians in the area. The continuous air strikes on Rafah have already devastated the city, and a ground attack would further exacerbate the humanitarian crisis in the region.
Despite international warnings and calls for restraint, Netanyahu has signaled his approval for the attack on Rafah, setting a date for the offensive. Israeli state television has reported that the land attack could happen “very soon”, raising fears for the lives of innocent civilians caught in the crossfire.
