In a recent development, Deputy Aibek Osmonov has decided to voluntarily relinquish his mandate as a member of the Parliament in Kyrgyzstan. The Central Election Commission (CEC) will convene today to discuss the early termination of his powers.
According to a statement received by the 24.kg news agency, Aibek Osmonov has formally submitted his resignation. This decision comes amidst scrutiny by Region TV channel, which has alleged connections between parliamentary deputies and Raiymbek Matraimov, the brother of ex-customs officer Iskender Matraimov.
The channel’s coverage has mentioned Aibek Osmonov, Shailoobek Atazov, and Nadira Narmatova, who proposed a bill on foreign agents. These deputies have been urged to either resign voluntarily or face potential revocation of their mandates.
Furthermore, Abdyvakhap Boronbaev, a member of the Ata Jurt Kyrgyzstan faction, recently had his powers terminated prematurely. His former position was assumed by businessman Saidbek Zulpuev.
In response to these developments, the State Committee for National Security has placed Raiymbek Matraimov on the wanted list on suspicion of assisting in restricting the freedom of movement of a person unlawfully.
It is worth noting that Region TV’s editor-in-chief, Otkurbek Rakhmanov, has confirmed the channel’s affiliation with Kamchybek Tashiev, the head of the State Committee for National Security.
