Pepper Particle Discovered in Lung of Chinese Man Suspected to Have Cancer
A Chinese man’s persistent cough turned out to be caused by a piece of hot pepper stuck in his lung, rather than a cancerous tumor as initially feared.
Local media reports state that 54-year-old Xu, from Zhejiang Province, had been using medication and herbal remedies to try and alleviate his cough, but to no avail. Eventually, Xu decided to visit the hospital due to the ongoing discomfort.
After undergoing examinations, doctors discovered a mass in Xu’s right lung that measured approximately 1 centimeter. Initially concerned that it could be a malignant tumor, doctors took a sample of the tissue for further testing. To their surprise, the tests revealed that the mass was actually a piece of hot pepper.
It was revealed that two years ago, Xu had choked on a piece of pepper while eating, leading to violent coughing. The pepper had become lodged in his lung, causing the persistent cough that had plagued him for so long.
Xu’s unusual case has garnered a lot of attention on social media platforms in China, highlighting the importance of seeking medical attention for persistent health issues. Ultimately, Xu was relieved to find out that his condition was not as serious as initially feared, and he can now breathe easier knowing the true cause of his cough.
