
“Performance of ‘Women of Liberation’ at İskele AKM”

Iskele Ataturk Cultural Center in Northern Cyprus hosted the play “Women of Liberation” last night in honor of the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Turkey’s founding. The play was prepared by İzmir Theater Office and directed by Metin Güler, with Birgül Yeşiloğlu Güler serving as the writer. Actress Ecem Yüksel took on the lead role. The income generated from the game will be donated to the Champion Angels Survival Association, which supports women who fought for their homeland and flag during the War of Independence.
Director of Culture Department Şirin Zaferyıldızı praised the play in her speech, saying, “We are the Republican Women of the great leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk.” She expressed her intention to bring the play to different regions of the TRNC. The play received widespread commendations from other council representatives, including Iskele Municipality Councilor Zekiye Gece and Iskele Municipality Theater Director Sami Yakar.
Metin Güler, the President of the Aegean Theaters Union and the creator of “Women of Liberation,” expressed his joy in being at the hall of the Great Leader Mustafa Kemal Atatürk named after him at the Iskele Ataturk Cultural Center. “This game leaves an important mark on history,” he said, adding that remembering history is crucial for a better future.
On Sunday, the Girne Municipal Theater Group will present “The Diary of a Madman” at the Iskele Ataturk Cultural Center at 20:30.
