“PGM Traffic Directorate Urges Prompt Action to Ensure Safety”

Police urge drivers to be cautious of tall grass along roads and medians

As summer approaches, the General Directorate of Police (PGM) Traffic Directorate has issued a warning to drivers about the dangers of tall grass obstructing visibility along roads and in medians throughout the country. In a statement, the PGM emphasized that this poses a significant risk in terms of traffic and road safety.

The PGM also pointed out that unattended cigarette butts carelessly thrown on dry grass could ignite fires, leading to the destruction of properties and even loss of lives. As such, drivers and pedestrians are advised not to throw cigarette butts on the grassy sides of roads.

To prevent any potential accidents or fires, the Highways Department and all Municipalities have been called upon to clean up the tall weeds and tree branches that hinder drivers’ visibility in the sides of main roads and secondary roads across the country. Timely cleaning of these areas will undoubtedly contribute towards road and traffic safety, preventing traffic accidents and any possible fires.

The PGM ended its statement by reminding drivers and pedestrians that taking necessary precautions to prevent fires and accidents will not only protect lives but also property. The public is being urged to take extra care while driving or walking along roadsides with tall grass, especially during the dry summer months.
