The Works of Poet Nazım Hikmet Honored at Cultural Event in Prague
The Turkish Embassy in Prague recently hosted a cultural event to honor the works of renowned poet Nazım Hikmet, with performances by artist Roksan Mandel and Syrian musician Marwan Alsolaiman. The duo presented works composed with Nazım’s poems, captivating the audience with their renditions.
In addition to the musical performances, Czech artist Hana Malthauserová also took the stage to recite the poet’s works translated into Czech, showcasing the universal appeal of Nazım Hikmet’s poetry.
The event was graced by the presence of Ambassador Egemen Bagis and his wife Beyhan N. Bagis, who presented a copy of a recently published book on the 100th anniversary of the Republic, focusing on Turkish-Czech relations and the official residence of the Turkish Embassy in Prague. The book was presented to Jozef Onderka, the owner of Slavia Cafe, and his wife Petra Onderkova. The ambassador emphasized the constructive role played by Nazım in Turkish-Czech relations, underscoring the importance of his legacy in fostering cultural exchange and understanding between the two nations.
The evening was a celebration of art, literature, and the enduring impact of Nazım Hikmet’s poetry, reaffirming his status as a revered figure in the cultural landscape of both Turkey and the Czech Republic.
