President Ersin Tatar Attends “Peace on the Flag” Exhibition at BRTK
President Ersin Tatar recently attended the opening of the exhibition titled “Peace on the Flag” held at Bayrak Radio and Television Corporation (BRTK). The exhibition is a part of the 20 July Peace and Freedom Day celebrations, commemorating the 49th anniversary of the Cyprus Peace Operation and the 60th anniversary of BRTK.
During his speech at the exhibition, President Tatar highlighted the significance of this event. He mentioned that the exhibition showcases the developments in technology throughout the years by using recycled tools and equipment from the BRTK archives and warehouses.
President Tatar emphasized that BRTK has been the voice of the Turkish Cypriots since it started broadcasting 60 years ago. He recalled that the slogan “The Flag is the Voice of the Cyprus Mujahideen” symbolized the beginning of BRTK’s journey. He further emphasized the importance of BRTK broadcasts in strengthening the organizational structure of Turkish Cypriots on the island and conveying messages to the world.
President Tatar acknowledged that BRTK’s broadcasts, along with those of private television and radio channels, are followed by many people worldwide. He expressed his belief that Turkish Cypriot culture, art, sports, and lifestyles should be given more space in these broadcasts.
Furthermore, President Tatar thanked the BRTK employees for their fast and contemporary publications. He also paid tribute to those who have served in the past and expressed his condolences for those who are no longer with us.
Lastly, President Tatar congratulated the artists who contributed to the exhibition and wished them success. The “Peace on the Flag” exhibition serves as a reminder of the importance of peace and freedom, as well as the role of BRTK in preserving and promoting Turkish Cypriot heritage and identity.
