“Prosecutors Launch Criminal Case for Brawl Involving Servicemen in Leilek”
Military Servicemen Involved in a Fight in Kyrgyzstan
On May 7th, a fight between servicemen of the Ministry of Defense and local residents took place in Muras (formerly known as Margun) village in the Leilek district of Batken region, Kyrgyzstan. Around 100 individuals were involved in the conflict. According to local sources, the military personnel were heavily intoxicated and initiated the altercation.
The military prosecutor’s office in the Batken garrison has opened a criminal case regarding this incident, citing “hooliganism” as the charge. The case is currently under investigation.
Incidents involving military personnel and civilians have been reported before in Kyrgyzstan. The Ministry of Defense has repeatedly emphasized the strict enforcement of discipline and the responsibility of their servicemen. However, such incidents continue to occur.
