Prosecutor’s Office Requests Fatih Terim’s Account Statement in Secret Fund Case
New Developments in Football Fraud Case
The ongoing investigation into the alleged defrauding of famous football names of millions of dollars has taken a new turn with the prosecutor’s office requesting an examination of coach Fatih Terim’s bank account movements. Terim, a renowned figure in the football world, testified as a complainant on June 2 within the scope of the investigation.
In his statement, Terim expressed his lack of awareness regarding the extent of harm caused to him. He mentioned his efforts to obtain documents containing all his account movements, loans, and monetary transactions, as well as his plans to conduct a detailed review with his accounting team once the bank provides the necessary information.
Furthermore, the Istanbul 41st High Criminal Court ruled for the continued detention of the defendants Seçil Erzan and Ali Yörük, who were detained within the scope of the case. The second hearing of the case is scheduled for January 12.
The case revolves around the indictment prepared by the Istanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Office, which alleges that Seçil Erzan, a bank manager, received 2 million dollars from a complainant under the promise of high profits but failed to return the money. The indictment further states that Erzan misled various individuals, including football players and business people, to deposit money into a fictitious fund by using fake documents and the names of publicly known figures like Fatih Terim.
The defendants face severe charges, with imprisonment of up to 216 years requested for Erzan. The court has already accepted the indictment, and the defendants are expected to appear before the judge in January 2024 for the next hearing.
