“Qatar’s Emir Plans Visit to Uzbekistan”
Qatar’s leader is set to visit Uzbekistan soon, and Tashkent and Doha are already preparing for it. The Minister of Investments, Industry and Trade, Laziz Qudratov, visited Qatar on May 8-9 to discuss the current state of bilateral relations, investment cooperation, and industrial collaboration with officials and leaders of large companies in the country. The two sides focused on the advantages and potential benefits of mutual cooperation in various industries, including energy, petrochemical, chemical, agricultural and food industries, as well as tourism and information technology.
The Qatari officials highly valued the prospects of mutual cooperation and eagerly anticipate the upcoming visit of their leader to Uzbekistan, which they say will deepen multidimensional partnership and open up new avenues for the growth of Uzbek-Qatari relations.
To that end, the two countries decided to develop a joint action plan for expanding mutual trade and a program for the development of industrial cooperation, which will cover key sectors of the economy. Preparations will also go underway to sign agreements on mutual promotion and protection of investments, and measures to prevent double taxation.
Representatives from big business circles will meet at a business forum in Tashkent, jointly organized by the two countries. The parties also aim to finance several infrastructural projects together and establish direct cooperation between commercial banks in Qatar and Uzbekistan.
Overall, this visit by Qatar’s leader is set to strengthen relations between the two countries and create a pathway for increased collaboration and sustained partnership.
