YSK Chairman Ahmet Yener Speaks About Elections and Mother’s Day
Ahmet Yener, the Chairman of the Supreme Board of Elections (YSK), recently answered questions from the press while playing a game. In his remarks, Yener congratulated all mothers on Mother’s Day and remembered the mother of Gazi Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of the Turkish Republic. He also paid tribute to the martyred mothers of Turkey.
At the same time, Yener noted that May 14 was Democracy Day in Turkey. He expressed his good wishes for all candidates, political parties, and parliamentary candidates in the upcoming elections. So far, Yener said that the elections have been going smoothly and he hopes that this will continue to be the case.
During the press conference, a journalist asked if it was true that there were allegations on social media about some ballot boxes being misused or tampered with. Specifically, the journalist said that there were claims that the ballot point of Muharrem İnce, who withdrew from his presidential candidacy, was slandered. In response, Yener said that they had not been able to confirm the veracity of this claim but that they had given warnings to all ballot box committee chairmen. He reminded voters that it is illegal to cross out any candidate’s name on the ballot.
As the election day nears, Turkey is witnessing a heated political climate. However, Yener’s remarks are a reassuring sign that Turkey’s elections will be conducted in a smooth and transparent manner, ensuring that the will of the people is reflected in the results.
