Renowned Turkish Theater Artist Ayla Algan Passes Away at 86
The Turkish theater community mourns the loss of Ayla Algan, a beloved theater artist, director, singer, and educator, who passed away at the age of 86. Algan’s sudden demise has left a void in the hearts of her admirers and colleagues.
According to reports, Algan fell ill while reading a script at her home and was immediately rushed to Taksim Acıbadem Hospital. Tragically, despite medical intervention, she succumbed to a brain hemorrhage. Her passing has left the theater and arts community in deep sorrow.
Algan’s funeral prayer will take place at Teşvikiye Mosque on Saturday after the noon adhan, following which she will be laid to rest at Aşiyan Cemetery. A ceremony honoring her life and contributions to the arts will be held at the IBB City Theaters Muhsin Ertuğrul Stage.
Ayla Algan’s impact on Turkish theater and cinema was profound. She was awarded the Presidential Culture and Arts Grand Prize in the theater category in 2022. The Minister of Culture and Tourism, Batuhan Mumcu, offered his condolences to the family and loved ones of Ayla Algan, acknowledging her significant contributions to the arts.
