The Ministry of Health in Gaza is raising urgent concerns about the dire situation at the Shifa Hospital, which is currently under siege by Israel. According to Ashraf al-Qudra, the spokesperson for the Ministry of Health, the hospital is struggling to provide food and water for the more than 7,000 people trapped inside. The amount of food allowed into the hospital is only enough for 400 people, leaving the patients in a state of hunger and suffering.
Additionally, the loss of communication has isolated the hospital from the outside world, exacerbating the situation. The accumulation of garbage within the hospital poses a new threat to those trapped inside, leading to unsanitary conditions.
Tragically, the dire circumstances at the hospital have led to the death of 51 patients, including 4 premature babies, within an 8-day period.
The spokesperson also emphasized that the infrastructure, water wells, and oxygen network of the hospital have been deliberately destroyed by the occupying forces. As a result, more than 1,500 medical personnel and thousands of patients and displaced individuals are facing imminent danger and death within the hospital.
