Russia and Turkmenistan Partner for Logistics Project in Astrakhan

Russia and Turkmenistan are partnering on a new logistics project in the Astrakhan region, aimed at enhancing cargo management between the two countries. This collaboration will see the establishment of a logistics center in the port special economic zone, which is expected to streamline cargo distribution and transportation processes.
One of the key components of this project is the introduction of a new shipping line connecting the port of Astrakhan with Turkmenbashy port in Turkmenistan. This new route is anticipated to broaden shipping capabilities and foster stronger economic ties between Russia and Turkmenistan. In 2025, a business forum is scheduled to take place to further develop the logistics infrastructure and boost cargo turnover, bringing together entrepreneurs from both nations to discuss collaboration opportunities.
Apart from its partnership with Turkmenistan, the Astrakhan region is also actively engaged in logistics projects with other countries. A Russian-Iranian company specializing in cargo transportation is already operational in the region, with plans for additional initiatives with Iran in the pipeline.
These collaborations underscore the region’s commitment to enhancing trade and economic cooperation with its international partners. The joint efforts with Turkmenistan and other countries signify a strategic approach towards strengthening economic ties and fostering mutual growth.
