Semeru Volcano Erupts, Ash Moving Northeast
According to a report from Antara News, the Semeru Volcano in Indonesia erupted at 07.30 local time. Ghufron Alwi, an employee at the Semeru Volcano observation point, stated that volcanic ash is being emitted from Semeru and reaching heights of up to 1000 meters, with the ash cloud moving towards the northeast direction.
The Volcanology and Geological Hazard Mitigation Center (PVMBG) issued a statement advising people to move 5 kilometers away from the eruption center and 500 meters from the river bed near Besuk Kobokan.
It is important to note that the activity level of Semeru Volcano has been at alert level 3 since December 16, 2021. This recent eruption is a cause for concern, and residents in the surrounding areas should be aware of the potential hazards posed by the volcanic activity.
