The Turkish presidential and parliamentary elections are coming up, and preparations are underway for expatriate Turks to vote. Recently, vote bags were transported to airports in various countries, including Portugal, to be flown to Turkey aboard Turkish Airlines flights accompanied by diplomatic couriers. In Portugal, where 1484 voters are registered, the ballots will be sent via the Lisbon-Istanbul plane, which takes off at 12.55 CET. Once the ballots arrive in Turkey, they will be taken to the Overseas District Election Board under the supervision of law enforcement officers. This is the first time that expatriate Turks in Portugal will have the chance to cast their votes, and it is expected to boost the level of participation in the elections.
