Standing Together Against Israel’s Violations of International Law
Minister Ömer Bolat recently delivered a speech at the closing of the 3rd Ministerial Meeting of the Trade Negotiations Committee of the Preferential Trade System Among the Member States of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) (TPS-OIC), where he shared important information about the discussions held during the meeting.
During his speech in Istanbul, Turkey, Bolat emphasized the condemnation of the massacres committed by Israel against the Palestinian people by all member states of the OIC. He called for unity against Israel’s policies that violate international law and human rights, stressing the importance of establishing an immediate and unconditional ceasefire and providing aid to Gaza without interruption.
The meeting, which brought together senior representatives, ministers, and deputy ministers from OIC member countries, provided a platform for important discussions on trade cooperation issues. Bolat expressed determination to explore new opportunities for trade cooperation among Islamic countries, aiming to increase trade between OIC member countries to 25 percent by 2025.
The Organization of Islamic Cooperation Preferential Trade Agreement, which became effective on July 1, 2022, was highlighted as a crucial tool in promoting trade among member states. Bolat called for countries that have not yet implemented the agreement to join the system, emphasizing the OIC’s leading role in global trade and its commitment to advancing cooperation on a global scale.
Following Minister Bolat’s speech, guest country ministers also shared their thoughts on the outcomes of the meeting, highlighting the importance of collaboration and solidarity among OIC member countries in enhancing trade relations and economic cooperation. The discussions held during the 3rd Ministerial Meeting set the stage for future initiatives and efforts to strengthen trade ties within the OIC.
