Tashkent Region Shows Low Air Pollution Levels, Says Ministry of Ecology

The Ministry of Ecology in Tashkent takes action to address greenhouse emissions and air pollution in response to the city being ranked among the most polluted in the world. Inspections conducted in three districts of the capital region confirmed that pollutant levels were within acceptable limits.

A mobile laboratory was used to analyze air pollution along the Tashkent Ring Road, focusing on areas from residential settlements to medical institutions. The ministry stated that continuous monitoring of greenhouse activities is in place to prevent the use of harmful materials for heating, such as tires, cellophane, and poultry manure. Greenhouses are required to have dust and gas filtration devices that meet state standards.

State Environmental Control Inspection efforts using Google Maps revealed that 357 greenhouses covering over 300 hectares were examined in areas with elevated air pollution. The majority of greenhouses were operational, with some inactive due to a lack of heating systems. Various crops were being cultivated, with heating sources including coal, hot water, and natural gas. Some greenhouses had environmental assessment reports and filtration systems in place.

During inspections, fines were issued to greenhouse owners for violating chimney regulations. Legal actions were taken against non-compliant greenhouses, leading to the suspension of activities in some cases. Warning were given to greenhouse owners without proper filtration systems, with potential fines in accordance with the law. The Ministry of Ecology’s efforts aim to enhance air quality and reduce pollution in Tashkent for the well-being of its residents.
