
The Hunchback of Notre Dame: A Ballet Revival

Izmir State Opera and Ballet presents “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” ballet
The Izmir State Opera and Ballet has announced that the ballet “The Hunchback of Notre Dame” will be presented to the audience at the Bornova Culture and Art Center Necdet Aydın Stage on multiple dates in February and March. The ballet, inspired by Victor Hugo’s novel of the same name, has been receiving appreciation for three seasons and is now adapted for the stage.
The music of the ballet was composed by Cesare Pugni, with musical arrangement by Bujor Hoinic. The choreography and libretto were prepared by Göksel Armağan Davran and Ahmet Volkan Ersoy. The conductor of the work is Tolga Taviş, and the decor design will be by Çağda Çitkaya, with costume design by Gülay Korkut.
The ballet will feature the three-hour make-up of the sexton Quasimodo, a character characterized by many physical deficiencies and ugliness, along with magnificent decorations appropriate to the period of the work.
