The Truth Behind the Fake Car Accident and $250,000 Theft
A brazen theft attempt in Istanbul’s Grand Bazaar has been uncovered by security camera footage, revealing a cunning plan to steal $250,000. The incident occurred on Wednesday, August 17, when Hacı BK claimed that he was involved in a car accident on Vatan Street and that the money, belonging to his workplace, was stolen from his vehicle during the chaos.
However, upon further investigation by the Public Security Branch Directorate, Theft Bureau teams, it was discovered that Hacı BK’s statement was full of contradictions. Security camera footage revealed that he had met his brother at a mosque before the alleged accident, where suspicious activity was recorded. The footage showed Hacı BK’s brother with a bulge in his waist, indicating that the stolen money was concealed on his person.
Subsequent footage of the accident showed Hacı BK abruptly changing lanes and colliding with another vehicle, further casting doubt on his story. Under questioning, Hacı BK eventually confessed to orchestrating the theft with his brother Serkan K., who was also detained in connection with the crime. A raid on Serkan K.’s home led to the recovery of $210,000 of the stolen money.
Both suspects have been arrested and are facing charges related to the theft. The elaborate scheme to steal the money has been unraveled, thanks to the diligent work of law enforcement authorities. The Grand Bazaar, a center of commerce and culture in Istanbul, is now safe from the clutches of these perpetrators.
