TMT Mujahideen Association Commemorates Founding President Rauf R. Denktaş and Freedom Leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük
The TMT Mujahideen Association has honored the memory of Founding President Rauf R. Denktaş and Freedom Leader Dr. Fazıl Küçük on the 41st anniversary of their passing. In a heartfelt message, the association paid tribute to these two influential leaders who played pivotal roles in the struggle for national existence and the advancement of the Turkish Cypriot people.
Dr. Fazıl Küçük, known as the “Freedom Leader,” was instrumental in spearheading the political resistance of the Turkish Cypriot people for liberation. He dedicated his life to this noble cause, championing the rights and freedom of his people through his publication, Halkın Sesi. Rauf R. Denktaş, the founding President, carried on the torch lit by Küçük, laying the groundwork for the resistance movement and securing support from the Motherland. Together, they were at the forefront of establishing the TMT organization, with code names ‘AĞRI’ and ‘TOROS’ symbolizing their commitment to the cause.
The leaders’ unwavering commitment to the Turkish Cypriot people’s struggle is exemplified by their famous statements, with Dr. Küçük asserting, “Cyprus is Turkish and will remain Turkish,” and R. Denktaş declaring, “Let my people remember me as the man who brought the Turkish soldiers to the Island.” Their crowning achievements include the Happy Peace Operation of 20 July 1974 and the establishment of the Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus, marking a significant milestone in the quest for independence.
As we reflect on their legacies, it is our solemn promise to honor the memory of our late Leaders and Martyrs by upholding and advancing the state they worked tirelessly to create. Dr. Fazıl Küçük and Rauf R. Denktaş will forever hold a revered place in Turkish Cypriot history, their spirit embedded in the hearts of the people they served.
May their souls rest in peace, and may they find eternal solace in heaven.
