23 Dead and 25 Injured in Bus Accident in India
A passenger bus fell off the Dongargaon bridge near Dasanga district of Khargone city, India, on Tuesday. Reports from ANI News state that 23 people on the bus died in the accident, while 25 injured individuals received treatment at the Khargone regional hospital. Additionally, 11 seriously injured individuals were transferred to Indore city for further treatment.
The bus driver, who was also among the injured, changed his first statement about the incident. Currently, the cause of the accident is unknown.
The state government has announced that the families of individuals killed in the accident will receive financial assistance of 400 thousand rupees. Additionally, the seriously injured will receive 50,000 rupees, and the lightly injured will receive 25,000 rupees.
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi expressed his sorrow over the incident and announced that the National Relief Fund (PMNRF) will provide financial assistance to the families of those who lost their lives. The fund will provide 200,000 rupees to the bereaved families and 50,000 rupees to the injured.
Authorities are still investigating the cause of the accident. The Dongargaon bridge has had previous accidents, prompting many to call for improved safety measures.
