Trailblazing Kyrgyz woman gears up for Mount Everest climb

Kyrgyz Mountaineer Asel Baibagysheva to Become First Female from Kyrgyzstan to Conquer Mount Everest

Bishkek – March 20, 2025

Kyrgyz mountaineer, Asel Baibagysheva, is gearing up for her upcoming ascent of Mount Everest, scheduled for April 14. If successful, she will make history as the first female representative from Kyrgyzstan to summit the world’s highest peak.

The Mountaineering Federation of Kyrgyzstan has confirmed that Baibagysheva is currently undergoing intensive training in the mountains to prepare for her challenging expedition.

Baibagysheva has been actively involved in mountaineering for the past eight years and has already conquered several high peaks in Kyrgyzstan, such as Zhenish, Khan-Teniri, and Zhel-Aidar. Notably, she holds the title of being the first Kyrgyz woman to climb Manaslu, reaching an altitude of 8,000 meters without the use of supplemental oxygen.

The achievement of conquering Mount Everest is not new to Kyrgyzstan, as Kyrgyzstani climber Eduard Kubatov successfully reached the summit on May 23, 2021. Kubatov joined the ranks of Dmitry Grekov, who became the first Kyrgyzstani to conquer Mount Everest back in 1997.

As the mountaineering community eagerly awaits Baibagysheva’s historic climb, she remains focused and determined to make her mark on the highest peak on Earth. We wish her the best of luck on her upcoming expedition to Mount Everest.
