Transportation in Germany to be paralyzed by strike waves – Breaking Economic Update

Millions of Passengers in Germany Impacted by Strikes
Today, machinists, airport security personnel, and Lufthansa ground handling workers in Germany have gone on strike, causing disruptions in the travel plans of millions of passengers. Germany, known for having the largest economy in Europe, is facing challenges in the transportation sector due to high inflation and personnel shortages.
Wage negotiations in key areas such as railways, airlines, and public transportation have been negatively affected by these strikes. This is not the first time that Lufthansa ground handling personnel and machinists have taken such action in the country.
The strike of machinists in Germany began at 04.00 GMT today and is scheduled to last 35 hours. Meanwhile, the Train Drivers’ Union GDL has been advocating for a reduction in working hours without a pay cut, leading to conflict with the railway company Deutsche Bahn.
The strike of security personnel at German airports has resulted in the cancellation of flights departing from major hubs like Frankfurt and Hamburg. It is anticipated that over 250 thousand people will be impacted by the airport strikes.
Verdi union has announced that Lufthansa’s ground staff will be on strike today and tomorrow, further complicating travel plans for passengers in Germany. The ongoing strikes highlight the challenges facing the transportation sector in the country and the impact on both workers and travelers alike.
