
TRNC Team Visits Zaimağaoğlu at Traditional Folk Songs Festival in Kosovo

The Northern Cyprus Culture Department Directorate’s music group recently participated in the Traditional Folk Songs Festival as part of the International Folklore Festival Ninulla in Kosovo. The team visited the Culture Department Director Şirin Zaimağaoğlu to express their gratitude for the opportunity to represent their country in Kosovo.
During the visit, the team, consisting of Culture Department Staff Halil Şahkın and musicians Ahmet Ced, Nihat Özyürekliler, Berk Akımcı, Nazım Ced, and Ahmet Tevfik Örs, presented a participation plaque to Zaimağaoğlu as a token of appreciation.
In her speech at the reception, Zaimağaoğlu expressed her pride in seeing the TRNC flag and hearing Turkish Cypriot music being showcased at the festival in Kosovo. She commended the team for their successful performance, which helped promote the music culture of the TRNC and raise awareness about the country’s composers and music groups.
The music group wowed the audience with their repertoire of traditional Turkish Cypriot songs, including Kamran Aziz and Sıla 4 songs, during the two nights of the festival. Their outstanding performance earned them an invitation to participate in the festival again in 2025.
Overall, the participation of the Northern Cyprus Culture Department Directorate’s music group in the Traditional Folk Songs Festival in Kosovo was a success, highlighting the rich music culture of the TRNC on an international stage.
