UK to Implement Ban on Hamas Content – Last Minute World News

British Minister of Science, Technology, and Innovation, Michelle Donelan, has requested an “urgent meeting” with social media companies in order to ensure the swift removal of violent content related to Hamas from their platforms. Minister Donelan made this announcement in a recent post.
Donelan emphasized that this action is being taken in solidarity with Israel and the Jewish community. The minister is determined to address the dissemination of violent content on social media platforms and prevent its potential negative consequences.
Furthermore, British Home Secretary Suella Braverman has written a letter to police chiefs, highlighting that while waving the Palestinian flag or chanting slogans for freedom in Palestine are typically legal activities, they may not be considered legal if used to praise terrorist acts. This statement aims to provide clarity regarding the boundaries of freedom of expression during the ongoing Israel-Palestine conflict.
In relation to the conflict itself, on the morning of October 7, Hamas’s armed wing, known as the Izz al-Din al-Qassam Brigades, launched a comprehensive attack on Israel called the “Aqsa Flood.” This onslaught included the firing of thousands of rockets from Gaza towards Israel, while Palestinian armed groups also seized control of the Beit Hanun-Erez Border Gate on the Gaza-Israel border.
Subsequently, these armed groups advanced into Israeli settlements, prompting the Israeli army to retaliate with airstrikes on the Gaza Strip utilizing numerous warplanes. Tragically, it has been reported that approximately 1,200 Israelis lost their lives in the attacks originating from Gaza.
The Palestinian Ministry of Health has announced that in Gaza alone, 1,055 individuals have died and 5,184 people have been injured as a result of Israel’s attacks. In the occupied West Bank, it has been documented that 21 people lost their lives, with approximately 130 individuals sustaining injuries due to attacks by Israeli soldiers.
As the Israel-Palestine conflict continues to escalate, international attention and efforts are being dedicated to addressing the dissemination of violent content online and ensuring a peaceful resolution to the ongoing clashes. The urgent meeting requested by Minister Donelan with social media companies is just one step towards achieving this goal.
