URGENT WEATHER ALERT: Snowfall Expected This Weekend!
The latest weather forecast provided by the General Directorate of Meteorology indicates that there will be varying weather conditions across different regions of Turkey. In the central and western parts of the country, it is expected to be partly cloudy at times. Showers are forecasted for the surroundings of Thrace, Istanbul, the south of Çanakkale, and the western districts of Balıkesir. In terms of temperatures, a decrease of 6 to 8 degrees is predicted for Marmara, while other regions will remain above seasonal norms. The wind is expected to blow mainly from the south, with occasional variations towards the east and southeast.
A warning has been issued regarding the risk of avalanches in the high altitudes of the Eastern Black Sea Region and steep slopes in Eastern Anatolia. Additionally, icing, frost, and occasional fog are anticipated in the central and eastern parts of the country.
In Istanbul, the upcoming week is forecasted to be cold and rainy, with heavy rainfall expected throughout the city and the Marmara Region. AKOM has advised residents to be cautious due to the potential for disruptions in traffic and daily life caused by the inclement weather.
Snowfall is also anticipated to move into Turkey from the Balkans, starting in Edirne and spreading westward. Heavy showers are expected, and a warning has been issued for Istanbul and other cities in the region.
