Urinary Incontinence: A Women’s Worst Nightmare
A meeting was held for family physicians in Kocaeli, Turkey, to discuss women’s health issues, including urinary incontinence and cervical cancer. The event was attended by 82 physicians, including Prof. Dr. Hasan Terzi and Assoc. Dr. Ünal Turkay, who both gave presentations. Dr. Turkay discussed urinary incontinence, which affects approximately half of all women at some point in their lives. He emphasized that it is not a natural result of aging and that there are treatment options available to alleviate or eliminate the condition. Dr. Turkay also provided information on the use of laser therapy for issues such as vaginal tightening and wart treatment.
Prof. Dr. Terzi spoke about the importance of cervical cancer screening and HPV vaccines. Cervical cancer is a leading cause of death worldwide, but it can be prevented with effective screening. Prof. Dr. Terzi stressed the importance of HPV screening and vaccination, particularly for women over 30 or those who are sexually active. He also emphasized the importance of regular gynecological examinations for early detection and treatment of various gynecological conditions.
The family physicians in attendance had the opportunity to ask questions and gain further information on these important women’s health issues. The event served as a reminder of the crucial role that family physicians play in educating and informing their patients about preventative measures and treatment options for a range of health concerns.
