The United States Continues Airdropping Aid to Gaza
In a show of support for the people of Gaza, the United States recently airdropped approximately 25 thousand meals worth of aid to the region. This comes at a critical time when Israel, which is facing accusations of genocide, has been carrying out attacks in Gaza for nearly 7 months and has been blocking the entry of humanitarian aid trucks.
According to a statement from the US Central Command (CENTCOM), the aid was dropped by 2 C-130 military aircraft, but unfortunately, 7 pallets fell into the sea during the operation. However, it was confirmed that no civilians or structures were harmed as a result.
CENTCOM also revealed that this latest airdrop brings the total amount of humanitarian aid delivered to Gaza by air to approximately 1170 tons. This ongoing effort aims to provide much-needed assistance to the people of Gaza, who have been suffering as a result of the conflict.
Israel’s blockade of land aid trucks into Gaza has only exacerbated the humanitarian crisis in the region. It is reported that around 35 thousand Palestinians, mostly children and women, have lost their lives since the attacks began on October 7, 2023.
With an estimated 2.2 million Palestinians currently residing in the Gaza Strip, the need for humanitarian aid is more critical than ever. Approximately 1.2 million of them are refugees in the city of Rafah, forced from their homes due to Israeli attacks.
The United States’ continued support through airdropping aid to Gaza is a testament to their commitment to helping those in need and providing assistance to those affected by the ongoing conflict.
