Uzbekistan Partners with Reformatics to Enhance Tourism Strategy

Reformatics to Support Uzbekistan in Developing Tourism Sector

Reformatics, a consulting firm based in Georgia, has announced its plans to assist Uzbekistan in creating a comprehensive strategy for the growth of its tourism industry. The firm will also be opening an office in Tashkent, as confirmed by the Agency for Strategic Reforms.

A meeting was held between Bahodir Rakhmatov, the director of the agency, and a delegation from Reformatics headed by managing partner, Nika Gilauri. The Minister of Ecology, Environmental Protection, and Climate Change, Aziz Abdukhaimov, and the Chairman of the Tourism Committee, Umid Shadiev, were also in attendance.

Discussions during the meeting centered on the potential for attracting investments into Uzbekistan’s tourism sector and its infrastructure, as well as the development of new tourism segments and the integration of digital solutions. Experts highlighted the promising outlook for both regional and international tourism in the country.

Following the meeting, a trilateral agreement was signed between the Tourism Committee, the Agency for Strategic Reforms, and Reformatics. The agreement outlines Reformatics’ role in providing expert assistance to the government in crafting a tourism development strategy through 2040.

The main objective of the strategy is to increase the tourism sector’s contribution to the economy to 7% of GDP by 2040, with targets of 30 million domestic tourist arrivals and 20 million international arrivals per year. To achieve these goals, various measures will be implemented, including the analysis of tourist flows, the development of a global marketing strategy, and the enhancement of infrastructure in key tourist areas.

The strategy will also prioritize the adoption of digital technologies and environmentally friendly solutions, drawing inspiration from established tourism industries in other countries. As part of the collaboration, Reformatics plans to establish a presence in Tashkent, working closely with local tourism businesses, tour operators, investors, and government agencies to drive the sector’s growth.
