Uzbekistan to Import 2.8 Billion Cubic Meters of Gas from Russia Annually

The Ministry of Energy has provided information about the details of an agreement with Gazprom for the import of natural gas from Russia. This agreement was reached within the framework of the St. Petersburg International Economic Forum.
According to the Ministry of Energy, the gas purchase and sale agreement was signed between UzGasTrade JSC and Gazprom Export for a period of 2 years. The Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan, Jurabek Mirzamakhmudov, and the Board Chairman of Gazprom, Aleksey Miller, signed the document.
The agreement was developed on fully commercial terms and aims to partially meet the growing demand for natural gas in Uzbekistan, especially during the autumn-winter season.
Starting from October 1 of this year, Uzbekistan plans to import 9 million cubic meters of natural gas per day, with an annual volume of approximately 2.8 billion cubic meters. The price of natural gas will be determined based on market prices in the region and current prices in Uzbekistan.
The gas will be delivered to Uzbekistan through transit via Kazakhstan. To facilitate this import, three gas pumping equipment will be replaced in the gas transmission system of Uzbekistan, and 11 different types of gas pumping devices will undergo complete repair and restoration. Additionally, 22 km of new main gas pipelines will be constructed, and 56 km of existing gas pipelines will be repaired.
This agreement is a significant step towards satisfying the growing demand for natural gas in Uzbekistan and ensuring a stable supply during the autumn-winter season.
