Winners Announced for Kamil Özay First Book Award Competition
New Award Celebrates Turkish Cypriot Writers
The “Kamil Özay First Book Award Competition” has announced its winners in its first year. Organized in collaboration with the Culture Department of the Ministry of Tourism, Culture, Youth and Environment and the Turkish Cypriot Writers’ Association, the competition aims to recognize and celebrate emerging talent in the field of writing.
The selection committee, which included Culture Department Director Şirin Zaimağaoğlu, Poet Mehmet Kansu, and other esteemed members of the literary community, awarded Zeray Uzunoğlu, Seval Unan, and Burak Erkut with an honorable mention. The committee decided not to award a first prize this year but opted to recognize the work of these talented individuals.
The award ceremony is scheduled to take place on March 21, coinciding with World Poetry Day celebrations. The competition will continue over the next five years, honoring different genres and writers.
