World Premiere: RITUALS Orient – Choreographic and Digital Performance in Ashgabat

Global Premiere of "RITUALS" Set to Enchant Ashgabat
The vibrant city of Ashgabat is preparing for an extraordinary artistic event as it hosts the global premiere of the choreographic and digital performance "RITUALS." This unique collaboration brings together the Ministry of Culture of Turkmenistan, the French Institute, the Delegation of the European Union to Turkmenistan, and the Embassies of France and Italy, alongside the Goethe-Institut in Kazakhstan.
Scheduled for Saturday, May 10th, the performance will unfold at the Mukam Palace. "RITUALS" is designed to create a captivating dialogue between the rich traditions of Turkmenistan and the cutting-edge choreography and digital arts of contemporary Europe.
Key figures in this innovative project include Jean-Marc Matos, a prominent choreographer from France, and Italian postmodern choreographer Margherita Bergamo. They will be joined by the State Dance Ensemble of Turkmenistan and the "Mengli" dance ensemble. The evening will commence with a traditional rendition of the Kushtdepdi dance by the "Akdjayar" folklore ensemble, hailing from the Balkan velayat, known as the birthplace of this enchanting Turkmen dance.
This pioneering project is part of the "European Spaces for Culture" initiative, which aims to foster and explore new models of cultural cooperation between European entities and their partners in non-EU countries. This initiative aligns with the EU’s strategic objectives for international cultural relations and responds to the need for shared artistic experiences across borders.
Supported by EUNIC (the European Union National Institutes for Culture network), the Franco-German Cultural Fund, and the French Institute in Paris, the project showcases the collaborative spirit of diverse cultural institutions, allowing for a vibrant exchange of ideas and practices.
One of the most exciting aspects of the premiere is that admission to the concert is free, encouraging the community to partake in this exceptional event that promises to blend tradition and modernity in a memorable celebration of culture.
Join us in Ashgabat for what promises to be a remarkable evening of art and collaboration.
