Zafar Khashimov appointed as president of new Retail and Catering Association
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev Endorses Establishment of Association of Retail and Catering Enterprises
President Shavkat Mirziyoyev of Uzbekistan has given his approval to the proposal to create the Association of Retail and Catering Enterprises, which was initiated by a group of 10 entrepreneurs. Zafar Khashimov, the founder of Korzinka supermarket chain, has been appointed as the head of this newly formed association.
The announcement was made by Khashimov on his Telegram channel following a meeting held on February 7, where President Mirziyoyev discussed the development of the service sector and outlined plans for the year 2025. Zafar Khashimov, who is also the chairman of the supervisory board at Anglesey Food, had actively participated in these discussions.
Speaking about the establishment of the Association of Retail and Catering Enterprises, Khashimov expressed his gratitude for the President’s support and explained that the association aims to act as a hub for expertise in the retail and service sectors. It will provide assistance to government bodies, existing entrepreneurs, as well as those aspiring to venture into businesses within the service industry. Additionally, the association will contribute towards alleviating poverty and decreasing unemployment rates across various regions in the country.
In an interview with “O’zbekiston 24” TV channel, Khashimov emphasized that the companies owned by the founders of the association currently employ around 50,000 individuals. The association’s representatives, recognized as experts in the service industry, will extend their services to regional areas to involve local entrepreneurs in their initiatives.
Moreover, Khashimov disclosed plans for the expansion of the Korzinka supermarket chain, with intentions to increase the number of 24-hour stores. While only 21 Korzinka supermarkets were operational around the clock last year, this figure is anticipated to grow to 32 in the near future.
As head of the Association of Retail and Catering Enterprises, Zafar Khashimov expressed his commitment to sharing expertise, knowledge, and resources, ultimately aiming to establish new businesses and foster growth within the service sector.
