Armenia’s Stance on Missing Persons Criticized by Ali Naghiyev

Armenia’s Non-Constructive Position on Missing Persons Clarification Criticized

Ali Naghiyev, the Chief of the State Security Service of Azerbaijan and Chairman of the State Commission on Prisoners of War, Hostages, and Missing Persons, has criticized Armenia for its non-constructive position in clarifying the fate of missing persons. In a meeting with Kathryne Bomberger, the Director General of the International Commission on Missing Persons (ICMP), Naghiyev highlighted the ongoing efforts to search for missing Azerbaijani citizens, a priority for Azerbaijani President Ilham Aliyev.

Despite the urgent nature of the issue and the commission’s continuous efforts in identifying and exhuming graves of missing persons from the Karabakh conflict, Armenia has shown a lack of cooperation. Naghiyev emphasized that Armenia’s refusal to collaborate in clarifying the fate of missing persons reflects a non-constructive stance that hinders progress in resolving this humanitarian issue.
